Say hello…
to your new best friends
We are Janna & Marissa aka team Meadowlark. :)
We are a video & photo duo out of Fargo, ND who are obsessed with making new friends, adventuring in wild places, and creating art.
What started as a temporary situation ended up being an incredible partnership.
In the summer of 2023 Janna was looking for an intern to help with weddings when she was on maternity leave. That’s where Marissa came in. Janna and Marissa worked closely together throughout the Summer and Fall and ended the season wishing they could work together more. As the season drew to a close, the idea of working as a team lingered. In the Spring of 2024 Marissa officially joined team Meadowlark.
We didn’t expect to make such a great team. We found our approach and desire to intentionally serve our couples matched really well. We also both had a creative drive to craft a film that perfectly encompasses the unique stories of the beautiful humans in front of our lens. The way we see filmmaking goes deeper than beautiful footage and a montage of the day, we desire each couple to feel seen, known and valued. We truly believe our films will tell a story that will last generations.
here’s the truth…

for us it’s personal
Janna began creating custom wedding films in 2019, though Janna’s filmmaking dates back to the good ole days of VHS tapes, and Marissa joined the team in 2023 as an intern. We quickly realized what a great team we made together and decided to make it official.
“I’m inspired to create heirloom wedding films because I know first-hand how valuable video memories of the people we love can be. After my brother passed away when I was 19, the camcorder videos he left behind became one of our family’s favorite ways to hear his voice, experience his laugh, and remember his goofy antics. I feel the importance of that when I’m filming, and it gives it so much meaning for me.”

And a bit of a plot twist
Marissa never considered photography or videography as a possible career path, but creating art was always on the radar for her. After spending 7 years as a high school art teacher she ended up “accidentally” falling in love with photography and videography.
“I didn’t intend to fall in love with photography or videography, but I should have seen it coming because I’ve always loved a good story. There is something absolutely magical about witnessing and documenting the lives of others. I’m humbled every time I’m invited into your world and endlessly inspired by what I find there. Your life truly is a work of art.”
